Eric Holden a finalist for 2014 Rolex Sailor of the Year

Eric Holden
Eric Holden, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race’s first Canadian skipper, has been named a finalist for the Canada's 2014 Rolex Sailor of the Year Award.

Holden, the professional skipper of Henri Lloyd, and his amateur Canadian crew -- Morgen Watson (Calgary), Phil Driver (currently UK), James Dick (Victoria), Fiona Garforth-Bles (Bragg Creek, AB) and Mike Jauncey (Toronto) -- were jointly awarded the Gerry Roufs Trophy for offshore racing, established in the memory of the Canadian sailor and single-handed offshore racer who was lost at sea in 1997.

Eric and his crew won the famous Clipper 2013-14 Race after a gruelling 11-month, 40,000 nautical mile (65,000 km) race, the only of its kind in the world for amateur crew.
