Eric Holden wins race 5 of Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

Canadian sailor Eric Holden skippered the British boat Henri Lloyd to win Race 5 -- their first win of the 16-race Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.  Holden and his crew arrived today in Sydney Australia, and currently in first-place overall. Clipper Race - Skipper Report by Eric Holden

They set a new speed record of 30.7 knots in Race 2 from France to Rio de Janeiro. At the 2012 London Olympics, Holden was the weather forecaster for the Canada's sailing team. Recently, Sail Canada named Eric Holden their Sailor of the Month for November 2013.  Team Eric Holden (facebook)

This is the 9th edition of the race, which started Sept. 1, 2013 in London, England and will finish there in July 2014. The Clipper boats take on amateur crew from around the world. The Clipper race is considered by many as the most difficult sailing challenge. The 64,374-km (40,000-mile) race visits 12 countries on 6 continents, and all legs takes 11 months.
